Our Wedding Day

To: Monique From: Matt

I turn my head as I hear the music begin to play,
And my eyes fix upon her.
There she stands,
With small and shaky hands.
In front of many,
In front of family and friends.
Her dress so white,
Her face so lovely and bright.
What a wonderful dress,
How it brings out her true beauty,
So delicate and carefully made.
She looks like a princess,
And she's coming my way.
What ever will I do?
As she walks slowly down towards me.
Down the red carpet,
Over the flower petals,
So gracefully one might say.
Oh how the light does shine from her face,
All the beauty beneath that small piece of lace.
I no longer hear the music,
I no longer see anything else,
Except her smiling face.
My heart beats so fast,
Feeling it pound harder and harder as she comes closer.
My hands no longer remain steady,
For they too shake down by my sides.
But a weird thing happens,
I look into her eyes and my pulse calms,
My hands relax,
She is telling me that it is ok.
She reaches where I stand,
Taking my extended hand...
My love and I stand before the priest,
Listening to his words,
Listening to our hearts,
As they flutter about like birds.
Our hands hold on to one another tight,
Letting us know everything's all right.
I'm standing here beside the woman I love,
Taking the vows so that we may become one,
As God had intended when he split us from one heart.
I now have my other half,
I am whole once again.
As the priest says his peace,
I turn and look into my baby's eyes.
Oh how blue they are,
Oh how comforting and full of life.
I see her smile,
Her lips as red as a rose,
Having the power of a mother to cure her child's whoas.
I see the sparkle in her eyes,
And I rub the back of her hand returning her smile.
We turn back towards the priest,
Our hands remaining entangled.
I repeat his words,
I take my oath,
The oath that combines us both.
When he asks me if I agree,
I smile and say 'I do...'
He then turns to her,
Asking her the same question,
Asking her to accept the that loving bind.
I squeeze her hand gently as I feel it begin to shake,
Letting her know I'm right there.
I see her eyes water,
I watch as he cheeks become pink,
And listen to her sweet and soothing voice as she says 'I do.'
My heart feels like its about to jump out,
Out into her arms,
Out into her gentle hands.
I will put my heart on her hand,
I'll let everyone know my love for her.
I ask for the ring,
The symbol of our love,
The symbol of our life which starts on this day.
I take her hand into mine,
Trying to hold it steady,
As I hear her let out a small whine.
I look down at her hand rubbing her fingers lightly,
Looking into her eyes watching them turn to glass,
From the tears which she try's and hold back.
Slipping my love, my ring on her finger,
Sealing my soul with hers.
I rub her hand once again as we both admire the ring,
How that diamond shines,
But not nearly as bright as she.
I let her hand go as she reaches for mine,
Smiling and trying my best to hold back my happiness.
I watch her so carefully,
So lovingly as she shows me her love with that wonderful wedding ring.
We now have given a part of ourselves to the other,
But gained much more from the lover.
Starring at her,
At my darling angel,
I smile looking into her eyes speaking what words cannot.
It seems as all time has stopped,
Everything no longer exists,
Except us,
My goddess and her prince...
I then blink my eyes,
Hearing the priest say those magical words,
Those wonderful words,
'I now pronounce you man and wife.'
A tremendous smile comes over my face,
My heart can't help but race,
I pull her closer to me,
Holding her tight in my embrace.
I look deep into her eyes,
As he says 'You may now kiss the bride,'
Sealing our oath with a kiss.
I place my lips on hers,
Feeling her sweet softness,
And letting our passion run wild.
As our kiss ends,
As we hear people crying and weeping,
Only then do I realize that my baby is too.
I run my thumb over her cheek,
Ever so gently,
Touching her soft, silky skin.
'Oh my darling,
Do not cry,
For today we are together as husband and wife.'
She smiles and says in her innocent voice,
'I know Matthew, I know,
But I can't help but cry,
I have never been so happy in my life.'
Hearing her words,
Looking into her face,
I can't help but also too let a tear fall.
She smiles and wipes my tear away as I had done for her,
'See we both shed tears,
But we have each other to wipe them away.'
Her words mean so much to me,
Her heart even more.
I kiss her lips again and smile,
'I love you' I say,
Then turn to walk up the isle which she once walked down,
But instead of walking up it alone,
She walks it with me.

I love you Monique Swanson. Always and forever....
